Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what personal information Sleep Masters Canada collects when you shop with us online, by phone or in our showroom, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

1. Who we are

Sleep Masters Canada (“we”, “us”) is a family-owned mattress retailer at 1285 Caledonia Road, North York, Ontario M6A 1Z4. We are responsible for the personal information we collect, and we have a designated privacy contact (see Contact us below).

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact details: your name, email address and phone number.
  • Order details: billing and delivery addresses, the products you buy, delivery notes (like stairs or a buzzer code) and your order history.
  • Messages: what you tell us when you call, email, use our contact or custom-mattress forms, or visit the showroom, including warranty or exchange details and photos.
  • Reviews and feedback you choose to share.

Payment information

Card payments are processed by our payment providers (Helcim and Stripe, including Apple Pay and Google Pay). If you choose monthly payments, your application is handled by Affirm. We never see or store your full card number. We receive only what we need to confirm and manage your payment, such as the last four digits and the payment status.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, we and our service providers collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring site and the date and time of your visit. This is done with cookies and similar technologies (see Cookies and analytics).

3. How we use your information

  • To process, deliver and support your order, including calling you to book delivery.
  • To handle exchanges, returns and warranty claims, including sending claim details to the mattress manufacturer.
  • To answer your questions and give you product advice.
  • To send order confirmations, delivery updates and other service messages.
  • To send news and offers by email, only if you’ve agreed (see Email marketing).
  • To keep our website secure, prevent fraud and fix problems.
  • To understand how our website is used so we can improve it.
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting requirements.

We collect only the information we need for these purposes and use it only for the purposes we told you about, unless you agree otherwise or the law requires it.

By giving us your information to place an order or ask a question, you consent to us using it as this policy describes. Where information is more sensitive, or for marketing, we ask for your express consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contract limits. For example, we can’t deliver an order without an address.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run our business, and only what they need to do their job:

  • Payment providers: Helcim, Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Affirm, to process payments and financing.
  • Delivery partners: our delivery team and carriers, to deliver your order.
  • Mattress manufacturers: to process warranty claims and some orders.
  • Technology providers: our website host, email, analytics and security tools, such as Mailchimp, Google Analytics, Google reCAPTCHA and Cloudflare.
  • Professional advisers and authorities: when required by law, or to protect our rights, our customers or the public.

These providers must protect your information and may use it only to provide services to us.

6. Storage outside Canada

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Canada, mainly in the United States. When that happens, your information may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities in those countries. We choose providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable to Canadian law.

7. Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small files saved by your browser. We use them to:

  • keep your cart and checkout working (essential cookies);
  • remember your preferences;
  • measure website traffic and the performance of our ads, using tools such as Google Analytics and Google Ads;
  • protect forms and checkout from spam and fraud, using tools such as reCAPTCHA, Cloudflare and our payment providers.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some features, like the cart, may stop working. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out browser add-on and manage ad personalization in your Google account settings.

8. Email marketing

We’ll send you promotional emails only if you’ve agreed to receive them or the law otherwise allows it under CASL. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time. Even if you unsubscribe, we’ll still send messages about your orders, deliveries and warranty.

If you start checking out but don’t finish, we may send you one or two reminder emails about the items left in your cart. You can opt out of these at any time.

9. How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Order and payment records are generally kept for at least seven years to meet tax and accounting rules and to support warranty claims, which can be made for up to 20 years. When we no longer need information, we securely delete or anonymize it.

10. How we protect it

We use safeguards suited to the sensitivity of the information. These include encrypted (SSL) connections, secure payment processing, restricted access for staff who need it, and security tools that protect our website. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your information. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we’ll notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.

11. Your rights

  • Access: ask what personal information we hold about you and how we’ve used it.
  • Correction: ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Withdraw consent: to marketing or other optional uses, at any time.
  • Complain: if you’re not satisfied with how we handle your request, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity first, and we’ll respond within 30 days.

12. Children

Our website and products are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us their information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make significant changes, we’ll let you know on our website or by email.
